A Word from the Word
As we all work towards the goal of seeking and saving the lost, we can sometimes forget that we need rest. You might ask how rest is a biblical thing. Individuals have heard statements that we are always to be ready to give a defense or wonder if Jesus ever rested.
When we look into scripture, Luke 5:16 states “But Jesus would often slip away to the wilderness to pray” (NASV 95). We also see after Jesus fed the 5000, he went up onto the mountainside to pray by himself. Jesus found rest in speaking to our Father. We all find rest in different ways.
As we see, scripture often points to the natural law, which flows from God’s creation. When a farmer goes out and tills the soil, tends the plants, and harvests the crop, the farmer rests. When a baker prepares the dough for baking, he kneads it over and over again, working the ingredients into the dough. The baker then rests while waiting for the dough to rise.
Rest and renewal are very important, and we should follow God the Father’s example in Genesis 2:2-3: “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested.” We also see where Jesus sends the apostles away to rest in Mark 6:31.
It is important for us to rest. We need to take time to pray and get away from our busy schedules. Please follow the examples set out by scripture and make sure to rest. Once you are renewed, come back with energy, adopt more students, and help seekers find the gospel of the Kingdom!
Tips and Hacks – Follow-up Partners
As Study Helpers, we want all our Students to complete the lessons and be baptized. You might wonder what happens once a Student asks for baptism. We depend on our Follow-up Partners to contact these Students, conduct one-on-one Bible studies, and then baptize them into Christ. We are always looking for more Follow-up Partners. As a Study Helper, this might be something you would like to do, or you might know of someone who would be a good fit for this role. For more information about being a Follow-up Partner, you can email us at help@worldbibleschool.net or see https://www.worldbibleschool.net/follow-up/ .
We are always looking for good people in service to the Lord!
