Jena Is More Than a Number

It is with a heavy yet joyful heart that I share this update. On Wednesday, May 7, at 6:08 a.m., our beloved sister and colleague, Jena Madeley, went home to be with the Lord. Many of you knew her through our support meetings and seminars, where she tirelessly led efforts to answer your questions, address concerns, and spearhead the loading of our advanced online courses and the WBS Reboot. Jena’s contributions and unwavering dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of everyone involved with WBS. Her example of perseverance inspires us all.

Jena (pictured center) worked faithfully until her final hospital stay, her body weary from battling cancer. Though her physical strength faded, her spirit soared. We find joy in knowing she has claimed victory in Christ! She leaves behind cherished memories of her encouragement, kind words, and loving demeanor, ensuring students were taught and Study Helpers were supported.

In the USA, we have a saying, “April showers bring May flowers.” The principle applies to our work in God’s Kingdom. Seeds sown in April, through God’s providence, bear fruit—some in May, some later. Through the storms of sadness and the frailty of life, God works powerfully. When we are weak, He is strong! We may never fully know the impact of Jena’s efforts, but our task remains clear: sow the seed, water the soil of hearts and trust God to bring the growth.

Let Jena’s example guide you. Even when discouraged by those who don’t respond, when life feels overwhelming or when you’re weary, keep sowing and watering until you are called home.

Here’s an overview of  April’s online sowing and watering efforts:

Samuel Is More Than a Number

WBS Student, Samuel, registered using the Lite App in February 2025. Once he completed the Born of Water and Spirit course, he requested to be baptized. His Study Helper, Jennifer, submitted him for Follow-up in March 2025. Follow-up Partner, Joshua, contacted Samuel to arrange his baptism. Samuel was baptized by Joshua on April 13, 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. Joshua reported, “After a meaningful, in-person Bible study where the purpose of baptism was discussed, Samuel readily agreed to be baptized for the forgiveness of his sins. He was particularly keen on being immersed, demonstrating his deep conviction and understanding. Despite the significant challenge of a one hour commute on public transport on crutches and a 400-meter walk to the church building from the bus stop, Samuels determination to be baptized was evident. He had a bad fall from from a ladder a few weeks ago. Although I regret not know about his mobility issues sooner so I could have baptized him closer to home, I am incredibly impressed by his unwavering commitment.” Please join us in praying for Samuel and his new walk with Jesus as his king.
