WBS: Telling the Old, Old Story
Stories from WBS Teachers
Over Ten Thousand Students
by Helen Chism - Hopkinsville, Kentucky

"In my father’s house there are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:2-3

I am an elderly lady, born on July 27, 1918. I started with W.B.S. in October, 1987 with only ten students, but now I have taught over 10,000! Some students never even returned that first introductory lesson, but the many that did remained faithful and have been baptized into Christ.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know my students better by exchanging letters. Several years ago I was overjoyed after receiving a letter from Brother Jimmie Lovelle saying that he had witnessed one of my students being baptized during a seminar. Two of my former students are now teaching full time in Ghana and Nigeria, and have helped to establish several congregations there.

I am especially proud of a picture sent to me by Brother Agapio Catamora. It shows one of my students, a beautiful, young Filipino woman named Jory, being baptized in the Pacific Ocean. Brother Catamora has since died of cancer.

I pray that God will let me live long enough to bring many more lost souls to Him. With God, all things are possible.
