How Does WBS Work? |
| |
How does WBS work? |
WBS is remarkably simple. People eager to learn about God respond to WBS because of advertising, word-of-mouth, campaign groups and other means. WBS forwards student names to volunteer teachers who send out the first lesson. They correspond with their students much as pen-pals would. But they also share the Truth of the Gospel at the same time. Students study at their own pace and return the test answers to their personal WBS teacher. The teachers, in turn, grade lessons and respond to their expectant students with grade results, new study material, certificates of completion, and notes of explanation and encouragement. This process continues over a period of time-anywhere from months to years. (WBS Internet studies, free of the constraints of worldwide postal systems, can cut response times significantly.)
They send WBS Bible courses, They encourage their students, answer their questions, and help guide them to respond to the Gospel. Working with WBS, they also help put their students in touch with Christians and churches in their own countries and communities around the world.
WBS' core set of Bible-based course books teach the fundamentals of God, Jesus, the Gospel message, the church and Christian living. The lessons quote the Bible often so students can complete them even without their own Bible. (Many teachers send their students a Bible of their very own after they have exchanged several lessons.) The lessons are written to elicit an informed, personal faith response to the Gospel.

Throughout the study cycle, many students drop out. But many others continue, growing in their knowledge and faith . Some of these see their need for God's grace and their need to respond to it. Teachers forward student names and info to Christian follow up workers who visit and study in person . God works wonders in revealing His Message through you, the WBS teacher, and this evangelistic process!

How is WBS using the Internet? |
 |
In a big way! WBS' Internet Department uses and develops online tools for WBS outreach. One way is through using the Internet to reach a special kind of truth-seeker. These are "connected" WBS students, who represent the rapidly-growing segment that prefers to study the Bible via the Internet. Tthis medium also lets people in closed societies have access to Bible studies where printed material cannot easily be provided. The Internet enhances the student's learning experience, providing more opportunities for teachers to express God's love through instant and cost-effective online communication. |
| Multiple WBS Websites |
| Another way WBS is using the Internet is by developing separate websites to meet the specific needs of the wide variety of WBS users. Serving WBS students and teachers, churches and follow up workers, WBS has multiple online avenues to assist evangelistic needs in both English and Spanish. The Internet Attracts New Students
The Internet has proven to be an effective medium for getting the message out about World Bible School. Thousands of students respond each month to Internet advertising by enrolling through the WBS student site (www.wbschool.org). These students chose from Internet and Postal printed courses. The demand for Internet-based Bible studies and gospel teaching tools continues to grow at an unprecedented pace. Consider how you can effectively use WBS Internet to "Cast the Net"! |

Is WBS personal evangelism? |
Yes! WBS is a ministry that relies wholly on the personal involvement, care and "touch" of individual Christians who serve as teachers and follow up workers. WBS begins with "mass evangelism" to touch potential students through print or radio advertising, flyer distribution and campaign groups. After "getting the word out," interactive communication and human relationships are fundamental. From the world's billions, millions will choose to study; hundreds of thousands will continue; tens of thousands will specifically request a personal, face-to-face Bible study-and many thousands will be baptized in faith!

How can WBS benefit our church's missionaries? |
|
WBS can be an ongoing boost to the missions efforts you support. A well-planned WBS program at your church can help missionaries find truth-seekers in their own mission field. An effort to target a mission point-with ongoing newspaper ads or missions campaigns, for instance-has been known to generate hundreds of WBS Bible studies. These student names are not immediately sent to your missionary, but to WBS teachers-who could be your very own members. |
| With patience and prayer, and in due time, God blesses the WBS process to sift out truth-seekers for your missionary-those individuals fully ready for personal study! Present believers may emerge to join the local mission church family. Ultimately, WBS students make their own, informed, personal response to the call of the Gospel. Imagine presenting your missionary with people who have studied the Bible diligently with their WBS teacher and have explicitly stated, "Yes, I want to be baptized!" Responsive students often lead to entire networks of open families and friends that can spur growth. Plus, many students who are already believers may emerge to join the mission church family. |

Why does WBS appeal to students? |
It's quite fundamental: God's Message of hope, joy, love and life is Good News to humankind! It is the Gospel, found in the Bible! WBS gives the student:
- Clear, illustrative presentation of the Bible and its plan of salvation
- Free courses-provided by the WBS teacher or church program. (Students pay for their own postage to return their answers or, in the case of Internet-based studies, for Internet connections or Internet cafes.)
- Self-paced, convenient courses, without the initial "pressure" of face-to-face studies
- Certificates of completion to commend progress
- Personal encouragement and direction from caring Christian WBS teachers
- Bible study materials useful for future reference and for sharing with others
